Illustrating Light & Shadow

check out my new tutorials on Vimeo – Illustrating Light & Shadow

there are two: Fashion Faces & Fashion Body.

These tutorials should help students learning to illustrate costume and fashion.  Having the light source come from the upper front/side makes the fabric not only reflect better in the case of metallics and shine, but it is easier to see the drape of the folds.  Front lighting often can “burn” out the texture of the fabric.

I have used yellow to make it easier to understand where the brightest highlights are in relationship to the light source.
