Drawing Fashion Hands

Hands movements as body language are an expression of emotion.

In fashion, they are also an extension of the visual story told by the style of the design.

With elegant evening wear hand positions are more like dance movements; elegant and graceful.

In edgy extreme fashion, the hand poses are also extreme, angular and aggressive.

I always draw hands with the wedge shapes at the core of the pose.  This helps to see the hand segments as elongated, sculptural forms.

To draw gloved hands, I always draw the hand first, then fit the glove tightly to it hinting at the folds and then drawing in the seams.
